Casual Friday's debut album, Nights Under Polaris, was recorded in two sessions, one year and one day apart: the first in an old ballroom and the second in a newspaper office. This technical process included diplomatic dealings with school security and constructing a guitar booth from excess clothing.

The resulting album contains a collection of Casual Friday's original compositions, recorded with minimum deviation from the band's live setup. Each tune was cut after only a handful of takes with the essential instrumental and vocal tracks performed and recorded simultaneously.
