“Are those the Casual Fridays?”

She asked the question innocently enough.

“Casual Friday?” I answered. “No...no, that’s not them – not just yet – and not here, not now.

“Where then?” she persisted. “And when?”

“Soon,” I said. “Soon – and just over the next hill, around one of these bends.”

“Well, I can wait,” she said, shrugging and turning to watch the roadside. “It’s still summer, anyway – and I want to find those boys among the very last of the flowers.”
